Mark Zuckerberg promised on Wednesday that Facebook would move to mend the “breach of trust” with its users.
“This was a breach of trust between Kogan, Cambridge Analytica and Facebook. But it was also a breach of trust between Facebook and the people who share their data with us and expect us to protect it. We need to fix that,” Facebook’s CEO said in a post.
The controversy around the leak of data to Cambridge Analytica has wiped out $50bn from Facebook’s value over the last three days.
The company was sued on Tuesday by its shareholder, Fan Yuan, in a federal court in San Francisco. The lawsuit claims Facebook made misleading claims about policy without their knowledge.
