A new world sales price record for an artwork was reported at New York’s Christie auction on Monday.

The painting named “Women of Algiers” made by famous painter Pablo Picasso was sold for $179.4 million setting a world record for an artwork at auction. At the same auction, a new record for the most expensive sculpture was also recorded. Alberto Giacometti’s “Pointing Man” was sold for $141.285 million. Both buyers decided to remain anonymous.
