Latvia’s cabinet of ministers has decided to re-nominate current European Commission Vice-President Valdis Dombrovskis as Latvia’s European Commissioner.
The coalition parties of parties in the Baltic nation made the decision following an extensive meeting Dombrovskis had with Prime Minister Krisjanis Karins, where the two men discussed European and Latvian affairs, as well as recommendations for Latvia a week after the European Commission’s European Semester.
Dombrovskis told the national press that in the future he wants to be working from the same portfolio, specifically with financial and economic issues at the European Commission. He also said that he has not yet decided what he will do for the remaining mandate of the current Commission.
“This issue is on my agenda, there is no decision made yet, I still have a week or to to make the final decision,” he said.
