The US government has threatened on Monday to hit EU products with €3.5 billion in tariffs as a retaliatory measure over civilian aircraft subsidies.

The US Trade Representative issued a supplemental list of EU products that “could potentially be subject to additional duties.” These include mainly food products, including sausages, hams, pasta, olives, whiskey, and European cheese such as provolone, edam and gouda.

Washington and Brussels are locked in a tit-for-tat threats standoff regarding tariffs on planes, tractors and food for well over a decade.
