US strikes against Islamic State in Libya


Anti-Islamic State fighters have welcomed the US campaign of air strikes against the militant group’s stronghold in Libya.

As reported by the Reuters news agency, the initial strikes by the United States on August 1 targeted a tank and two vehicles in Sirte, where Islamic State fighters are encircled in the heart of what has become an important base for the group beyond its self-declared caliphate in Iraq and Syria.
