Legal status of Caspian Sea to be discussed again in Astana

Recent developments over the implementation of the Trans-Caspian gas pipeline have once more revealed contradictions among the five littoral states.

On the one side there are Iran, Russia and Kazakhstan, who believe that the decision on the realisation of the project must proceed in compliance with the interests of the five countries. On the other side are Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan and the EU.
