The 110 year old refugee

According to his daughter, the refugee, who is blind and deaf, spent a month making the journey with eight family members. His four-generation family fled their hometown of Baghlan, Afghanistan, as it is unsafe; his three brothers were killed by the Taliban.

'A 110 years old blind and deaf man, Abdul Qadir Azizi, is the eldest refugee to arrive in Germany from Afghanistan with his eight-member family. To German authorities, he declared as date of birth January 1st, 1905.

His family had to lift and carry him for much of the way from Baghlan, in Afghanistan, to Bavaria, Germany. Mr. Azizi lost three sons and a daughter to the Taliban. He arrived in Germany in perfect health. The family will be transferred to Hesse, in central Germany.
