Hungarian Telephone and Cable Corp. (HTCC) posted a third-quarter profit of USD 4.2 million compared to a USD 1.6 million loss in the same period of 2001, Interfax reported. The Hungarian telephone operator now goes by the name of Hungarotel Rt. The third-quarter figure brings profits for the first nine months to USD 13.4 million. Higher operating profit, interest expense cuts and a bigger forex gain helped put the company in the black.
