NUR-SULTAN, Kazakhstan – On 10-11 December, as part of the Astana process, the 14th high-level international meeting on Syria will be held in Kazakh capital Nur-Sultan, Kazakh Foreign Ministry representative Aibek Smadiyarov told a briefing on 9 December.

“All sides of the Astana process in Syria have confirmed their participation in the negotiations and have already begun to reside in our capital. Among them are delegations of states – guarantor of Russia, Turkey and Iran, as well as the Syrian government and the Syrian armed opposition,” Smadiyarov said.

According to him, the UN delegation led by Special Envoy, UN Secretary General for Syria
Geir Pedersen will take part in the meeting as observers. The Russian delegation will be led by the Special Representative of the President of the Russian Federation for Syria, Alexander Lavrentiev. Turkey will be represented at the level of Deputy Foreign Minister Sedat Önal.

“The day before the event, representatives of the guarantor countries intend to hold bilateral and trilateral consultations at the expert level.  The plenary meeting is scheduled for December 11,” Smadiyarov said.
