Syria: Important decrease in civilian casualties


A major blackout was also reported in Syria on 03 March 2016. According to the Syrian Ministry of Electricity, a sudden power outage hit all Syrian provinces, stressing that maintenance teams are working to identify the causes of the outage and fix them in order to restore electricity as quickly as possible. The ministry said the problem will be fixed within maximum 12 hours. The Syrian Telecommunications Establishment also announced that the internet has partially stopped working due to an incidental fault.

According to the pro-Syrian rebel Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, 24 civilians have been killed in the first five days of the Syrian ceasefire agreement

Even though civilian casualties continue to be reported in Syria, the ceasefire agreement caused an important civilian casualties drop.

AFP news agency reported on Thursday, that the pro-rebel Syrian Observatory for Human Rights told AFP that 24 civilians have been killed in the first five days of the landmark truce in parts of Syria. According to the Observatory, among the casualties which took place in areas where the ceasefire had come into effect, there were five women and six children.
