The Swedish Jewish Communities Council is petitioning the police to reroute a neo-Nazi march in downtown Gothenburg.
The Nordic Resistance Movement plans to parade near the local synagogue on September 30, that is, the same day as the Yom Kippur Jewish holiday. The Jewish Council’s chairman Aron Veständig told Radio Sweden that a march so close to the Synagogue poses a security risk.
According to Veständig, the Nordic Resistance Movement will parade up to the Gustav Aldofs square, which is 500 meters from the synagogue. The police is also expecting several counter demonstrations.
