Suicide bombers attack Beirut; IS claims responsibility


Lebanese Prime Minister Tammam Salam said: “We condemn this cowardly criminal act that can never be justified, and we call on the Lebanese to be more watchful and united against strife.”

At least 43 people were killed in a pair of suicide bombings which struck southern Beirut, Lebanon on Thursday

Three suicide bombers coming from Syria, attacked an open-air market in Southern Beirut, Lebanon causing the death of 43 people and the injury of 239.

A Lebanese security source said that they arrested a fourth would-be suicide bomber who survived the attack. The fundamentalist, who is a Lebanese national from Tripoli, told authorities that he was an Islamic State (IS) recruit. He told authorities that he and the three other suicide attackers arrived in Lebanon from Syria two days ago.
