A Swedish-sponsored course designed to train Russian investigative journalists was infiltrated by the FSB – Moscow’s intelligence service.

The democracy promotion program, for Russian journalists in Kalmar, Sweden is funded by a local development aid agency known as SIDA.

In 2017, the course was infiltrated by a 50-year-old former soldier whose mission was to befriend his classmates and identify critics of the Putin regime.

In a statement to Sverige Radio, Swedish officials acknowledged they expected Russia’s intelligence services to target the programme.
