Russia escalates its campaign for media nationalization


The Communist, Liberal Democratic, Just Russia “constructive opposition” parties in Russia have submitted a draft bill in the Duma that would demand from media to report any funding they are receiving from abroad. The government is not expected to put up a fierce opposition to their proposal.

The bill would demand from media outlets to report to the state media regulation body, Roskomnadzor, any payment for advertising, or even donations, within 30 days. Failure to do so will result in $400-$...
