Reducing abortions in France

The French state will reimburse 100 per cent of the abortion costs

From the beginning of April, the French state will reimburse the 100 per cent of the abortion costs. Moreover, girls aged between 15 and 18 will be offered access to anonymous and free birth controls.

According to France 24, abortions in France number approximately 12,000 annually. Until now, French women over 18 could only receive up to 80 per cent of the cost, which can run up to €450. The new measure was proposed by the French President Francois Hollande during his 2012 campaign.
