Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese leader Xi Jinping oversaw the signing of 32 contracts on May 8, including energy, trade and finance deals aimed at strengthening economic ties.

Putin hosted Xi in Moscow for talks as well as for the May 9 colossal parade marking the 70th anniversary of the end of World War II in Europe, an event that most Western leaders boycotted amid tensions over Ukraine.
