The Migrant Offshore Aid Station, funded by an American multi-millionaire and his family, saved 11,000 refugees in the Mediterranean over the past year.

Around 2,500 migrants have drowned in the Mediterranean this year, trying to reach southern Europe, according to the International Organization for Migration.
