OPEC Secretary-General Mohammed Barkindo will visit an international energy forum in Nur-Sultan and the giant oilfield Kashagan in Kazakhstan’s section of the Caspian Sea next week, KazEnergy Executive Director Talgat Karashev has said.

“The head of OPEC confirmed his participation in our forum, and also expressed a desire to see the Kashagan field,” Karashev told a press conference. Representatives of UE energy giant ExxonMobil and Italy’s ENI are also expected to attend the forum.

Karashev also noted that the recent drone attacks against oil facilities in Saudi Arabia will probably be discussed at the forum.

KazEnergy Association General Director Bolat Akchulakov, who also took part in the press conference, noted that oil prices rose sharply after the Saudi attacks but later retreated. He forested that the price of oil will rise to $70 per barrel or more by the end of the year.
