Is age a criterium of exclusion for people aspiring to become a cop?

The exclusion of candidates more than 35 years of age from a competition for the recruitment of police officers required to perform operational duties is compatible with EU law decided the EU Court of Justice on Tuesday.

The possession of particular physical abilities constitutes a genuine and determining occupational requirement for such police officers, decided the court.
