Nokia returns to mobile business through partnership

Nokia announced that it permitted Finnish start-up firm called HMD Global to create a full range of Nokia-branded smartphones, tablets, and feature phones


After selling its cellphone and services division to Microsoft Corp. in 2014, Nokia announced on 18 May that Nokia-branded smartphones will return to the international markets.

The Finnish company announced on 18 May that it signed an agreement with Finnish start-up, HMD Global, giving the new company the “exclusive global license to create a full range of Nokia-branded smartphones, tablets, and feature phones for the next decade.”
