NATO has announced that British-born Bryan Wells will serve as the alliance’s new Chief Scientist, a position that makes him the alliance’s senior scientific advisor, as well as the chairman of the NATO Science and Technology Board – roles that are considered essential to support the Alliance in maintaining its Science & Technology edge.

Wells previously served as the UK Defence Ministry’s head of Science and Technology Policy and Strategic Research and International Engagement.

With his experience in international science and technology collaboration and policy-making, Wells will focus on enhancing the military relevance of the scientific programmes, partnerships, and supporting the acceleration of capability development.
