NATO Defence Ministers met on 26 June in Brussels to begin two days of talks on key security challenges, including Russia’s violation of the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces Treaty.
The Russian parliament passed a bill to suspend the country’s participation in the INF Treaty, which prohibits both countries from possessing and testing ground launch missiles with a range between 500-5.500 kilometers.
NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said that Russia continues to produce and deploy SSC-8 missiles, and therefore NATO is preparing for a world without the Treaty.
