A proposal for the creation of a standard EU travel document for undocumented migrants who do not have a valid passport or identity card was passed by the European Parliament’s Civil Liberties Committee on May 30.
MEPs, who approved the draft by 39 votes to 9, said many EU countries are currently facing serious difficulties in returning these residents to their home countries in a safe and lawful way.
