MEPs have backed a proposed update of EU law to make environmental impact assessments clearer, ensure they take account of biodiversity and climate change and involve the public. They also voted in favour of banning the use of climate-unfriendly fluorinated gases in new air-conditioning appliances and refrigerators by 2022-2025.
