May faces backbenchers revolt over Customs Union policy


Theresa May is facing a direct challenge to her leadership by the ardent supporter of a confrontational approach to Brexit negotiations,  Jacob Rees-Mogg.

Rees-Mogg is the bookies favourite to replace Mrs. May in the leadership of the Conservative party. Since 2016 he had presented himself as the guardian of the “peoples’ will,” opposition the so-called “dilution” of the referendum’s effect.
