ASTANA –Kazakhstan’s national gas transmission operator KazTransGas said the company has launched a high-tech compressor station Turkestan, which will increase the export of Kazakh gas to China.

KazTransGas, which is part of KazMunayGas, said the construction was implemented as part of an investment project to increase the throughput of the Beineu-Bozoi-Shymkent gas pipeline from 10 billion cubic meters year to 15 billion cubic meters per year.

“The operation of the new stations will allow the National Operator in the field of gas and gas supply to ensure maximum reliability of the process of uninterrupted gas transportation to the southern regions of Kazakhstan to meet the growing demand each year, especially during peak periods during the heating season,” Intergas Central Asia General Director Valentin Khvan said during the opening ceremony, adding that the current annual gas need for south Kazakhstan is about 5 billion cubic meters.

The construction of the MG Beineu-Bozoi-Shymkent has allowed Kazakhstan to ensure stable gas supplies to the south, create a unified gas transportation system of the country and increase the export of Kazakh gas to foreign markets.
