ASTANA – The heads of two national oil and gas companies of Kazakhstan and China – KazMunaiGaz and China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC) signed a Memorandum of Understanding on June 7 in Astana.
According to the document, Kazakhstan will export up to 5 billion cubic meters of gas to China in the next two years.
The document determines the volume of supplies, the price and quality of products, as well as the place of gas reception by the Chinese side – the border crossing point Khorgos. The chairman of the Board of National company KazMunaiGaz, Sauat Mynbayev, emphasised that the memorandum signed in Astana is a solid basis for further strengthening of bilateral mutually beneficial cooperation between Kazakhstan and China.
Kazakhstan has created a system for transporting gas to China.
KazMunaiGaz completed the construction of the Beyneu-Bozoy-Shymkent gas pipeline, built the third line of the Kazakhstan-China gas trunkline and the high-tech gas compressor stations Bozoi, Karaozek and the compressor station Akyrtobe.
