Juncker stands firm on Russia, won’t change position on Ukraine

Russian President Vladimir Putin (R) and the EU Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker, are seen together as they meet in Moscow, Russia, 25 September 2012.

No details about the schedule have been released, as the Commission will only confirm Juncker’s agenda a week in advance.

European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker appears unwilling to change Europe’s policy regarding Russian President Vladimir Putin’s actions towards Ukraine.

Speaking at a press event in Paris after occasion of the 99th Congress of Mayors of France, Juncker said:
"By going to Saint Petersburg I will not be changing the EU's opinion of Putin's actions in Ukraine. My visit will by no means be the occasion for any sort of announcement changing the existing policy on sanctions."
