Kassandra is reminded of a dialogue appearing in the book: Plato and the Platypus walk into a bar… which gives the basics of philosophy through anecdotes. It came to mind while reading through the second story on our front page this week about Azerbaijan and corruption. Indeed, if the British Court will eventually rule to confiscate the assets of an Azerbaijani lady, the produce of the confiscation may return to Azerbaijan. Here, enters the philosophical notion of infinite regress, which is explained by the dialogue between two friends.

Jean: If Atlas holds up the world, what holds up Atlas?

Selim: Atlas stands on the back of a turtle.

Jean: But what does the turtle stand on?

Selim: Another turtle.

Jean: And what does that turtle stand on?

Selim: My dear Jean, it’s turtles all the way down!
