An Indian court is allowing two Italian marines in their custody to go home for Christmas and also asking for an additional bail of 60m rupees ($1.1 m).

The two marines have been charged with the murder of two Indian fishermen, Selestian Valentine and Ajesh Pinky.

Although unarmed, the fishermen were allegedly mistaken for pirates threatening the oil tanker guarded by the marines, the MV Enrica Lexie back in Febuary. Both fishermen were subsequently shot dead.
