Over a hundred demonstrators have been arrested at the latest wave of yellow vest protests in Paris on Saturday, which included members of the anarchist black block.

The police deployed 7,500 service men and women in the 45th yellow vest demonstration. Authorities had banned demonstrations in tourist hotspots in Paris, including Champs-Elysees, but some protesters violated the ban.

The yellow vest movement has been credited with forcing the government to pursue a more expansionary fiscal policy, with the government spending an additional €17bn in wage and tax cuts for low earners. At the same time, the movement has been dealing with its own diversity. On Saturday, most of the people did not wear yellow vests, presumably to avoid visibility.
