The third round of the initiative DiscoverEU attracted almost 95.000 applications from young people from the EU during a two-week period. Around 20.000 18-year-old Europeans have been selected to receive a DiscoverEU travel pass, and will be able to travel between 1 August 2019 and 31 January 2020 for up to 30 days.
DiscoverEU is an accessible travel experience launched in June 2018 for young individuals or small groups, including those from disadvantaged backgrounds. It gives them a chance to learn about European cultural heritage and diversity and to connect with other young people.
The Commission is planning to launch the next application round the end of the year when another 20.000 travel passes will be available.
