Greek debt relief negotiations: State of Play


At the IMF’s annual meeting with the World Bank in Peru, Lima, Christine Lagarde, confirmed the Fund’s position on the unsustainability of the Greek Debt. Although she reiterated that further spending cuts were needed by the Greek government, especially on pensions, she also affirmed that the IMF would not participate in the Greek program without substantial debt relief from its Eurozone creditors.
