The European Commission has today given Greece permission to join the 15 countries already participating in an enhanced cooperation which allows international couples to select which country's law applies to their divorce or legal separation. The relevant Regulation that entered into force in June 2012 aims to give couples legal certainty, while at the same time avoiding emotionally and financially costly court proceedings.
