Germany moves towards full scale military engagement in Syria

Germany moves towards full scale military engagement in Syria


The German cabinet has approved the country’s biggest military engagement beyond its borders at this point in time. The package includes reconnaissance flights, a naval frigate, but also 1,200 ground troop involvement. That ground troop engagement is more than France or Britain -- the biggest European military powers -- have pledged.

This proposal still require parliamentary approval, but coalition partners enjoy a comfortable parliamentary majority. A vote in the German lower house is expect...
