The French secret service Direction Central du Renseignement Intérieur (DCRI), have been accused of censorship by the Wikimedia Foundation after demanding the deletion of an article published by a volunteer.
According to DCRI, the text, which was published in 2009, contained "classified" military secrets and was a risk to national security. The agency threatened to arrest and charge the French author unless he deleted it from the the online encyclopaedia.
