Former Bank of England governor blames Germany for euro zone troubles


Germany’s membership in the euro zone has driven its constituent nations apart – and this is not what the architects of the single currency had intended. So said former Bank of England Governor Mervyn King.

During an interview on the BBC’s “Andrew Marr Show” on March 6, King said: “I worry that this is now going to be a battle between the political will of an elite that created this who daren’t now admit that it was a mistake, and economic arithmetic. We’re all going to suffer from that.”
