According to the Police, it was the same man, a 40-year old, who was neutralised at Orly airport, that shot three police officers in a northern Paris suburb of Garges-lès-Gonesse.

French interior minister: “The individual’s identity is known to the police and intelligence services.”

The man was a “radicalised Muslim” known to security services, according to Bruno Le Roux, French interior minister. The man shot at police officers  before launching the airport attack. “We can link the [airport attacker’s] identity with a check carried out at Garges-lès-Gonesse by a patrol in Stains this morning at 6.50am,” said Le Roux. The man left one police officer injured, stole a woman’s car and fled the scene.

Orly incident came second

Orly airport in Paris had been evacuated after a man made an attempt to seize a counter-terror patrol’s gun at the airport’s south terminal.”The man succeeded in seizing the weapon of a soldier. He was quickly neutralised by the security forces,” spokesperson for the French interior ministry Pierre-Henry Brandet said. The incident took place near gates 37-38, where Turkish Airlines flights board regularly.

“We were waiting in line to check in for a flight to Tel Aviv when we heard three or four gunshots nearby,” 54-year-old Franck Lecam told AFP. “There were police, emergency services, soldiers running in all directions.

Orly gunman was radicalised in prison

France’s anti-terrorism prosecutor has opened an investigation into the shootings and the man at airport scene. According to Paris reports, Orly gunman had previously been jailed for drug trafficking and was radicalised in prison.
