The survey shows that citizens’ awareness of the importance of biodiversity for humans has increased after 96% of the 27,000 citizens of EU countries that were interviewed said more needs to be done to protect the environment. The opinions expressed by those that were surveyed are largely in line with the goals of the EU’s biodiversity strategy for 2020, which is aimed at halting the loss of biodiversity and ecosystem service.
