The European Parliament’s pension fund faces deficit crisis


The pension fund of the Members of the European Parliament is on the verge of collapse, according to the German Conservative Tabloid Bild.
The crisis will be acute by 2026 according to a leaked report of the Secretary-General of the European Parliament, Klaus Welle, to the Budget Committee.
For several years the pension fund is facing a deficit of hundreds of millions of Euro. In 2016 the pension fund had assets worth €146,6 million, facing MEP entitlements of €472,6 million. The € 326,2 milli...
