New distribution methods and growing health problems: these are the conclusions of the European Drug Report 2019 launched on 06 June in Brussels by the Commissioner for Migration Dimitris Avramopoulos and the Director of the European Monitoring Center for Drugs and Drug Addiction Alexis Goosdeel.
The 2019 Report finds an increase in cocaine availability with seizures at a record high, amounting to 140.4 tons, double the quantity seized in 2016 (70.9 tons), with the latest developments in the market and synthetic drug production in Europe. Commissioner Avramopoulos highlighted the role of digitalization in the drug market, promissing higher efforts in the area.
