The French government “very much shares the way Olli Rehn thinks,” according to the country's finance minister, Pierre Moscovici.

Speaking in Brussels on 26 September, Moscovici said that the pro-austerity economics commissioner was in fact “an ally” of Paris. He dismissed criticism of the European Commission in France.
