On 12 September, the Council of the European Union decided to establish a European agency for the operational management of large-scale IT systems. The agency, to be headquartered in Estonian capital Tallin, should become operational in summer 2012. The development and operational management will be conducted in Strasbourg, France, while a backup site will be in Sankt Johann im Pongau, Austria, giving the project a real large-scale dimension.
