EU, industry to invest €22 billion in research and innovation

New initiatives include innovative medicines, aeronautics and electronics


Over the next seven years, more than €22 billion will be invested in innovation and research by the European Commission, EU Member States and European industry, Europe's executive body announced on 10 July.

Big part of the Innovation Investment Package (more than €17 billion) will go to five 'Joint Technology Initiatives' (JTIs) in innovative medicines, aeronautics, bio-based industries, fuel cells and hydrogen, and electronics.
