EU Council concerned about security challenges in Black Sea

The Council of the EU emphasized “the increasing strategic importance of the Black Sea area for the EU” and called for enhanced EU involvement in the regional cooperation in a statement adopted at its meeting on 17 June in Luxembourg.
In the document, the Council also expresses concerns about the security challenges in the Black Sea area and reiterates the Union’s non-recognition policy on the illegal annexation of Crimea.
