EU clears investment in construction of Hungary’s Paks II NPP

The EU’s competition chief said on March 6 the European Commission has concluded that Hungary’s financial support for the construction of two new nuclear reactors in Paks (Paks II) involves state aid and approved it under EU state aid rules.

“Hungary has decided to invest in the construction of the Paks II nuclear power plant, its right under the EU Treaties,” Competition Commissioner Margrethe Vestager was quoted as saying in a Commission press release.
