The UK’s job market has been attracting ever-lower interest from EU nationals, according to the world’s largest job search engines.

The shortfall in applications from EU nationals has hit sectors that depend on a steady inflow from the Continent, particularly in the construction and healthcare sectors. The food and childcare industries are also under pressure.

Job search website Monster has seen a 12.6% drop in EU applications since January 1, while LinkedIn says London had been attracting 15% fewer job views by professionals from other EU countries.

Private data confirm an overall trend of lower EU net migration, recorded by the UK’s Office for National Statistics. Net migration from September 2017 to September 2018 dropped by 132,000 to its lowest level since 1997.
