The European Commission said on November 19 that the EC has approved, under the EU Merger Regulation, the acquisition of joint control over a newly created joint venture, PionierWerk Hanau GmbH, by GETEC Wärme & Effizienz (GETEC) and Stadtwerke Hanau (SW Hanau), all of Germany.
According to the Commission, the joint venture will provide electricity, heat, telecommunication and e-mobility services in a newly developed district in Hanau, the Pioneer-Park.
GETEC is an energy company that specialises in decentralised heat, power, and cold contracting as well as energy services. SW Hanau is the municipal energy provider of the city of Hanau, providing gas, water and electricity. The Commission concluded that the proposed acquisition would raise no competition concerns because of the limited economic activity of the joint venture in the European Economic Area.
