EU appoints Human Rights chief


The Council of the European Union appointed on 25 July Stavros Lambrinidis as the EU Special Representative for Human Rights. He was appointed with an initial mandate until 30 June 2014.

Lambrinidis will work closely with the European External Action Service and will be in charge of enhancing the effectiveness and visibility of EU human rights policy.
