The eighth High Level Dialogue on Human Rights between the European Union and Brazil took place on 9 October in Brussels.

Both sides exchanged views on bilateral and multilateral matters, including the rights of women and LGBTI, racism and discrimination, the rights of indigenous peoples, human rights defenders, as well as persons with disabilities. They also highlighted the 30 years of the Convention on the Rights of the Child.

The two parties retaliated their commitment to continue promoting human rights on the basis of their common views, and agreed to continue engaging between the regular Human Rights Dialogue sessions. They also explored ways of further advancing cooperation on matters of strategic interest.
